Finding your Roots in Poland and Eastern Europe
During the 19th century the area known as 'Poland' was home to millions of Jews and many of us are eager to know more about our ancestry there. Before it was partitioned between Austria, Prussia and Russia in 1772 it was the largest country in Europe, but Poland did not regain its independence till 1919. Most European Jews did not have surnames till around 1800 when they were obliged to have them, being known as B son of A, and this makes research before 1800 very difficult for all but Rabbinic families. Most of the records that have survived only date from the beginning of the 19th century.

I was desperate to go to Thailand, and what better way to go there than to do something for a good cause at the same time.
I called up my friend Katie, and within a week we had booked our places!
