D'var Torah: Eyn Kelokeinu – there is none like our God

This song, consisting of multiple praises of G-d, is often sung to a rousing tune. It has been part of our services for a long time,at least since the siddur of Rav Amram Gaon (c. 870), a work which is the basis for the Siddur that is used today.

G-d called out to Abraham, telling him to ‘go for yourself’ to a mysterious land and a dazzling destiny. This theophany was a spectacular vindication of the theology that Abraham had sought to spread throughout his life.Abraham reacted with the enthusiasm that we would expect of him:
