D'var Torah: B’rit Mila - The Heart and Soul of Covenant

'And Avraham performed B'rit Mila on Yitzchak his son when Yitzchak was 8 days old, as God had commanded him' (Bereishit 21:4) According to the Talmud (Kidushin 29a) our verse above, from this week's Sidra, teaches that the obligation to circumcise a baby boy falls upon the baby's father.

The Shir Hakavod, Song of Glory, is generally known as Anim Zemirot. It is one of the most popular parts of the Shabbat morning service. Perhaps this is due to the ease of joining in with the tune or the outpouring of support when a child leads it!
