One of the challenges of the United Synagogue is maintaining and improving the properties at our Shuls. With quite a lot of aging buildings, population movement and increasing demand for services by our members this places a significant burden on the organisation to try and ensure our buildings are fit for purpose.
"The Will to Life": Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks' Keynote Address at the AIPAC Policy Conference
On Monday 4th March 2013, the Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks delivered a keynote address, entitled "The Will to Life", at the AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee) Policy Conference in Washington D.C.
Addressing close to 5,000 of the delegates present at the conference, the Chief Rabbi praised the work of AIPAC before speaking about the dangerous re-emergence of European antisemitism as well as the modern day miracle that is the State of Israel.

Having returned from the United States on Sunday night, I would have hoped for a day or so to deal with my “inbox” and office issues that had accumulated during the previous week. Not a chance!

Every year the Rabbinical Council of the United Synagogue hold a residential conference at a hotel away from the hurley burley of everyday life. As last year, this year’s conference was at Lyndhurst in the New Forest (the only town I have come across with both a Ferrari and Maserati dealership on the High Street!), with the hotel just on the outskirts of town.
