The Jewish Autism Trust is a new charity being launched this week in conjunction with World Autism Day. The charity offers support for families of children and young adults on the autistic spectrum. The Jewish Autism Trust is run by parents for parents. It holds monthly meetings at members’ homes giving them the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and give each other mutual support. The charity also organises speakers on a regular basis and arranges family and fund raising events throughout the year. It also keep members updated with information that is current to autism and can offer support and guidance on any issue, be it at home, at school or in the workplace. There is no charge for membership.
Jewish schools across London have marked the launch of the Jewish Autism Trust in a variety of ways, raising money for the charity in the process. Children at Hasmonean Primary School in Hendon were seen sporting a variety of colourful socks, kippot and hair slides whilst pupils at Immanuel College organised a tuck shop. Edgware Jewish Primary, Rosh Pinah and NorthWest London Jewish Day School, to name a few, all held ‘non-uniform’ days.
The Jewish Autism Trust can be contacted by phone or email and all calls and messages are dealt with on a daily basis. For further information please contact Avital Fisher at info@jewishautism.org or call 0845 3850300.
