Jewish Baby Directory is an online resource that sets out to be a one-stop-shop for parents and parents to be in the London Jewish community. It is a valuable source of information for any baby and children-related queries you might have. The website was set up in late 2010 by two mums with young children as a response to a need for a centralised and comprehensive resource. Whether this is your first foray into parenthood or not, Jewish Baby Directory seeks to provide you with a wealth of information and ideas for both the antenatal and postnatal periods and beyond.
There is so much going on for young families, so many people providing support and so much knowledge held by individuals within the Jewish community, but until now, there has not been an arena in which such knowledge could be effectively shared. We therefore came up with the idea of an online directory and forum specifically targeted at the Jewish community.
If you need to find where to buy your maternity clothes; if you are desperate for Half Term outing ideas; if you are looking for a weekly music group or football course; if you are investigating childcare options, or even if you just want some help picking a name for your baby, http://www.jewishbabydirectory.com/ is the site to visit.
The Jewish Baby Directory also contains helpful information about postnatal support, financial entitlements, community events and much, much more. We are keen to support Jewish businesses and organisations and the many outstanding voluntary individual contributions from those within Jewish community who provide comfort, help and support to those who require it
The key factor that sets our website apart from others that are aimed at parents and parents to be is its Jewish nature. We are thrilled to be a Community Partner of the United Synagogue and to be working with the Rabbonim of the Living and Learning team who are answering all of your halachic questions relating to parenting. The ‘Ask the Rabbi’ section is proving very popular as it enables parents to ask Rabbonim questions they might have anonymously and also benefit from the halachic advice given to others. The website also lists Gemachs that lend out baby equipment, clothes, toys and essentials for a Brit Milah and Pidyan HaBen.
It is our vision for the site that it becomes as comprehensive and user-friendly as possible. We aim to foster a collaborative relationship with our users and welcome their contributions and feedback to ensure that the site fully caters for what its community wants from it. So, if you do have any comments, recommendations or suggested additions, please do get in touch through the website. You can also join ‘Jewish Baby Directory’ on Facebook to receive updates.
