Move over Palwin no 10! A new concept in shabbat dining has arrived at St John's Wood Synagogue’s Young Jewish Network. Forget damp and dreary. Elegant, intimate and cosy are the new kids on the block at YJN.
On Friday October 19th Rabbi Ari and his ever so stylish first lady, Rifki, hosted their debut soiree. An internationally themed Kiddush kicked off the night with an array of vintages and tapas. The 50 guests then took their seats at the beautifully bedecked table to indulge in a fully catered five course dinner with Chinese, Italian and French influences.
The fashionable crowd were all smiles as Rabbi Shainfield noted that it was no accident that YJN’s inaugural dinner coincided with the Torah portion of Noah. When better to hold an international affair than the week that chronicles the tale of the Tower of Babel.
The highlight of the evening was Californian entrepreneur, Yitz Applbaum’s delightful and entertaining talk on how to engage with and fully enjoy wine.
Suzanne Lyons commented: “Ari & Rifki created a warm and atmospheric special Friday night dinner 'party'. The room was abuzz with conversation with guests from all over the globe getting to know each other! It was great to see that after a lovely dinner, clusters of guests remained at the table swapping places talking and socialising well after dessert and coffee were served! I will look forward to their next event.”
