At very short notice Northwood United Synagogue organised a number of events which allowed our community to show its support for Israel in its hour of need.

The expanding Canary Wharf Chaplaincy has appointed Rabbi Dr. Moshe Freedman as its first dedicated Jewish Chaplain.

Northwood’s Senior Rabbi, Rabbi Dr Moshe Freedman, has just started a fascinating lecture series at the cutting edge of scientific and Torah theory.  It is entitled “Parallel Thinking”.

On Sunday 11th November 2012, members of Northwood United including the Chairman, Stuart Solway, and Rabbi Dr Freedman, attended an event to pay their respects to those who have given their lives in conflicts around the world.

At a special Shabbat Kiddush on November 3rd 2012, the Northwood US Community celebrated the appointment of one of its long standing members, Lord Dyson, to one of the highest positions in the UK Legal system, the Master of the Rolls.

  Northwood’s Youth Rabbi, Rabbi Samuel Landau, organised a recent two-day trip toPolandfor the community. Twenty people embarked on an emotional and inspiring journey, witnessing the remnants of 1000 years of Jewish history and its catastrophic end. Leading the trip was Rabbi Robert Chevins (JLE) and Northwood’s Rabbinical Team, Rabbi DrMoshe Freedmanand Rabbi Samuel Landau. The trip visitedTarnow, Zyblitska Gora, Krakow, Plasow,AuschwitzI and Birkenau. It also ended with a presentation from one of the righteous gentiles.  I arrived home just after midnight, unlocked the front door and went upstairs to my babies; two, fine young men of 24 and 21, both fast asleep.  I kissed their foreheads and breathed in their scent.  I prayed to G-d to bless my sons, for Him to keep them safe. I whispered into their sleeping ears how much I love them.

Over 30 new members and their families were invited by Rabbi Moishe Freedman and the Northwood community to a special Shabbat Service and Kiddush on 12th May 2012.

Wednesday night’s Yom Hazikaron/Yom HaAtzmaut event in a flag bedecked Northwood shul hall was organised and put on in only three days after original plans had to be changed at the very last minute.
