On 26 March 2012, childcare students from West Herts College in Watford visited Watford shul on a tour of the town's places of worship. The visit was part of a module that focuses on respecting and understanding different faiths and cultures when caring for children.
Watford’s Rabbi Ephraim Levine gave around 70 students a brief history of Judaism and explained religious practices surrounding the shul, kashrut, Shabbat and the Jewish festivals.
Course tutor Helen Gordon, a member of the Watford community, commented, “It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about the various faiths and the differences between them. It is essential that young people going into the Early Years sector have this knowledge and what better way to learn it than to experience it firsthand. We are extremely grateful to all of our hosts.”
