Week of Parashat Behar- Bechukotai

We love Israel!

This coming Sunday is Yom Yerushalyim on which we commemorate the liberation of Jerusalem and the Old City after the 1967 six day war. The US Living & Learning Department have partnered with JerusalemOnlineU, a Jewish learning website to present a fascinating documentary called ‘Israel Inside - How a small nation makes a big difference’. A host of US communities and schools will be showing the film as part of their Yom Yerushalayim celebrations. Graduates from Israel’s Technion University have been responsible for some of the featured products in the film, including the ReWalk, a bionic suit that enabled a paraplegic to complete the London Marathon. Tony Bernstein, Executive Director of Technion UK, will address the Borehamwood and Elstree community prior to a screening of Israel Inside on Sunday 20th May at 8pm.

Elsewhere in Israel, 80 students have participated in Tribe Israel programmes throughout their Gap Year, including TILT, the Tribe Israel Leadership Training course, which completed its course for the year earlier this week. Click here to find out what they have been up to.

Back in the UK, last week Tribe held a successful Tots Party for Lag B’Omer with over 100 people in attendance. Click here to find out more.

Whilst we have celebrated Lag B’Omer, there is still over a week till Shavuot, meaning we are still in the Omer. To understand more about the Omer, click here to listen to this week’s Ask the Rabbi – ‘What is the Omer?’ and click here to read an article as to why we ‘Count the Omer.’

Finally, following on from our feature of United Synagogue Schools, this week we feature articles from primary school’s Hertsmere Jewish Primary School and IJPS, and secondary school King Solomon.

Please see the list below for all our other articles this week.

Shabbat Shalom,
