Week of Parashat Emor

Today is Lag B’Omer, the 33rd day of the Omer and time for a BBQ, a shave and some music! Need to know more about Lag B’Omer? Rabbi Dr Moshe Freedman explains in this week’s Ask the Rabbi.

With Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) nearing (20th May), the US Living & Learning Department have partnered with JerusalemOnlineU, a Jewish learning website to present a fascinating documentary called ‘Israel Inside - How a small nation makes a big difference’.  A host of US communities and schools will be showing the film as part of their Yom Yerushalayim celebrations. Click here for more information.

Elsewhere in You & US, we have an interview with Leor Harel, the new Youth Director at Belmont, Rabbi Schochet of Mill Hill writes about his surprising and life changing community trip to Poland and following on from last week’s feature on US Primary Schools, we feature an article on 'Why choose a US Secondary School'.

Recently, a number of US delegates to the Board of Deputies met with US Chief Executive Jeremy Jacobs to discuss their work as representatives on the Board. You & US are delighted to present a Q & A with The President of the Board, Vivian Wineman. Click here to read it.

Finally, The Community Fun Run is nearly upon us! Taking place next Sunday May 20th 2012, there is still time to register to run for US Chesed and raise money for the US Chesed Bursary Fund which helps send US children onto life changing Tribe Summer programmes such as Israel Tour, Camps and Schemes

There are lots more articles of interest in this week’s edition of You & US. Please see the list below.
